The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan strongly condemns the kidnapping and killing of a Japanese citizen in eastern Afghanistan by terrorists. This criminal act is against all human and Afghan values as well as internationally accepted principles, and the ministry offers its deepest condolences and sympathy to the bereaved family of the victim, and the people and government of Japan.
This despicable act is a clear indication that terrorists desire to prevent Afghanistan from ensuring peace and stability for its citizens.
Terrorists are not only a threat to Afghanistan and the region, but also to the greater world, and unless their bases and safe havens on the other side of the Durand Line are destroyed, we can not expect to overcome the danger that terrorism presents.
The people of Afghanistan believe that these kinds of desperate acts will not deter the people and the government of Japan from their long-term commitments to the people and government of Afghanistan.
