Dr. Mohabbat speaks to students at Nihon Daigaku on United Nations Day

October 19, 2010: Dr. Bashir Mohabbat, Chargé d’Affaires ad Interim of the Embassy of Afghanistan in Tokyo, spoke to a group of around 200 students at Nihon Daigaku’s Mishima campus in Shizuoka.

The event, which was organized to mark United Nations Day, allowed students to learn about Afghanistan’s history, culture, and development, including Japan’s role within.

The morning session featured a presentation by Director Masataka Nakahara of the Japan International Cooperation Agency’s South Asia Department in addition to Dr. Mohabbat. The afternoon session featured a number of speakers, including Dr. Khaled Reshad of Karez, as well as a round table discussion.

Students in attendance in attendance were given the chance to interact with the speakers and asked questions about such issues as the restoration of cultural artifacts and the role of religion in Afghanistan.
