January 19, 2011: Ambassador Dr. Sayed M. Amin Fatimie was welcomed hospitably at the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Tokyo by H.E. Ambassador Sermet Atacanli.
The two Ambassadors reflected over their nations’ historical relations, including ancient linkages, more recent support to key pre-conflict Afghan leaders such as Ammanullah Khan, as well as the Republic of Turkey’s role in post-conflict Afghanistan.
Within this context, Ambassador Fatimie expressed gratitude for Turkey’s multi-dimensional support to Afghanistan, including socio-economic and security areas. In particular, Ambassador Fatimie praised the efforts of the Turkish Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) in Wardak province and the role of the Turkish military in the training of the Afghan security forces.
