Reception on the Occasion of the 100th Anniversary of the Restoration of Independence Day of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.


September 20, 2019: H.E. Ambassador Dr. Bashir Mohabbat had the honor and pleasure of hosting the Reception on the Occasion of the 100th Anniversary of the Restoration of Independence Day of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan at the Embassy of Afghanistan in Tokyo, Japan. Also in attendance were all of the Diplomats and staff of the embassy to great the honored guests to the event.


More than 300 guests were received at the embassy into the autumnal decorated Maulana Jalaluddin Rumi Balkhi Hall to celebrate this notable milestone centennial event. Following the arrival of guests, the emcee for the evening, Mr. Nasrullah Rozbeh - Second Secretary for the Embassy, began the night with a welcome address and invited King Records notable choral group VOJA-Tension, to the main stage to sing acapella the of the national anthems of Afghanistan and Japan.


Following the musical opening, H.E. Dr. Mohabbat gave his Opening Remarks wherein he welcomed all the guests and took the opportunity to highlight all of the progress Afghanistan and the National Unity Government have made over the past year in the realms of women’s right & participation in society; RECCA development of regional partnerships to bolster the economy & eliminate transit dependency; and the progressive momentum of the peace building processes; and the significance of the 100 year’s milestone. Further he expressed his sincere gratitude, on behalf of the people and Government of Afghanistan, to all the international participants who have aided in the support of the Afghan-owned and Afghan-led development processes over the years and hoping for their continued support in the next 100 years.


Remarks were also given by H.E. Mr. Shinichi Nakatani, Parliamentary Vice-Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan; who remarked on the many progressive steps Afghanistan has accomplished over the years and the determination of the Afghan people.


Another longtime friend of Afghanistan and the embassy, H.E. Mr. Natsuo Yamaguchi, Chief Representative of the Komei Party, also gave remarks praising the treasured and long lasting relations between Afghanistan and Japan, reavowing Japan's commitment to stand with Afghanistan through its further development, and his sincerest hopes for increased relations.


After the remarks were given, a special Centennial cake emblazoned with numeral “100” candles was escorted into the Hall where all of the speakers joined in a ceremonial cutting of the first piece.


Following the opening ceremony, emcee Mr. Rozbeh invited all of the guests to partake in the traditional Afghan food and soft beverages specially prepared in honor of the occasion. During dinner, VOJA-Tension returned for two more songs: “Watan Ishq-e tu Iftikharam” as well as an original composition “Centennial Chorus” with lyrics in English and Japanese set to the tune of traditional Afghan music. Among the more than 300 guest were over 90 of Their Excellencies the Ambassadors & Diplomats with missions in Japan, high ranking members of Japanese Government, business representatives, community leaders, representatives from NGOs and the private sector, Afghan nationals living in Japan, as well as Afghan students completing their studies in Japan. H.E. Dr. Mohabbat as well as the Embassy's own Diplomats and Staff had the pleasure of meeting and talking with each of their honored guests, thanking them all for their attendance, and handing them a gift bag to take home filled with Afghan green raisins.
