January 25, 2011: Ambassador Sayed M. Amin Fatimie was warmly received at the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in Tokyo by H.E. Ambassador Khalid bin Hashil bin Mohammed Al-Muslahi.
Ambassador Fatimie used the occasion of this meeting to express gratitude for the Sultanate of Oman’s support to Afghanistan, both in resisting foreign occupation in the past and in the present in a variety of fields. Ambassador Fatimie also requested that H.E. Ambassador Al-Muslahi kindly convey on his behalf to H.M. Sultan Qaboos the request for the Sultanate’s assistance, as a key and influential member of the Gulf Countries Council (GCC), the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), and the Arab League, in mobilizing regional support for H.E. President Karzai’s peace initiative.
H.E. Ambassador Al-Muslahi assured Ambassador Fatimie that it is his Islamic duty to provide support in this matter.
The Ambassadors agreed that peace and prosperity in Afghanistan correlates directly with regional and global peace and prosperity. Furthermore, H.E. Ambassador Al-Muslahi discussed the potential positive impact that Afghanistan’s natural resources and strategic location can make.
