February 4, 2010: H.E. Omar Daudzai, Chief of Staff of the President’s Office, held a meeting with the Foreign Minister of Japan, H.E. Mr. Seiji Maehara, to discuss key bilateral issues. In particular, peace efforts in Afghanistan were discussed. H.E. President Hamid Karzai, through his peace plan, has emphasized the importance and effectiveness of the mutually reinforcing processes of reconciliation and reintegration. H.E. Chief of Staff Daudzai informing that in the last few months alone, hundreds have joined in the peace process.
H.E. Chief of Staff Daudzai was accompanied by Ambassador Dr. Sayed M. Amin Fatimie and Deputy Chief of Mission Dr. Bashir Mohabbat of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic.
H.E. Chief of Staff Daudzai arrived in Tokyo on February 3rd and will stay until February 7th to take part in “The 21st Century Partnership Promotion” program between the President’s office and the Japanese foreign ministry. H.E. has also met with State Secretary for Foreign Affairs H.E. Mr. Yutaka Banno, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs H.E. Mr. Hisashi Tokunaga, Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary H.E. Mr. Tetsuro Fukuyama, Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan H.E. Ambassador Tadamichi Yamamoto, and other key Japanese officials.
H.E. Chief of Staff Daudzai will also visit Hiroshima.
