H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie Attends Peace Memorial Ceremony of Hiroshima City

August 6, 2016: It was His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Sayed Mohammad Amin Fatimie's great pleasure to attend the Peace Memorial Ceremony in Hiroshima. Particularly this time, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie had the honor of being designated a representative of Ambassadors for the flower offering service, along with H.E. Mr. Bruce James Ross Miller, Ambassador of Australia, and H.E. Mr. Ahamed Khaleel, Ambassador of the Republic of Maldives. It was an honor for H.E. Dr. Fatimie to receive many thanks from Japanese high-ranking officials for his visit and attendance, as well as the service of flower offering. The ceremony, celebrating its 71st incarnation, was attended by many distinguished guests, including H.E. Prime Minister Shinzo Abe; H.E. Mr. Fumio Kishida, Minister for Foreign Affairs; H.E. Mr. Yasuhisa Shiozaki, Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare; diplomatic members from over 90 countries, and participants from all 47 prefectures in Japan.

On the previous night, August 5th, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie had the pleasure of attending the dinner reception hosted by the City of Hiroshima. H.E. Dr. Fatimie was warmly welcomed by the Honorable Mr. Kazumi Matsui, Mayor of Hiroshima. Among nearly 150 attendees, H.E. Dr. Fatimie had the pleasure of meeting with H.E. Mr. Hidehiko Yuzaki, Governor of Hiroshima; H.E. Mr. Tadamori Oshima, Speaker of the House of Representatives; H.E. Mr. Chuichi Date, President of the House of Councillors; and H.E. Mr. Tatsuo Kawabata, Vice Speaker of the House of Representatives, and expressed, including to the Mayor Matsui, his solidarity with Japan, on behalf of the people and government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, for peace and prosperity. They all welcomed and kindly thanked H.E. Dr. Fatimie for his words. H.E. Ambassador Fatimie further had the pleasure and honor in meeting, and discussing the issues of mutual interest with H.E. Ms. Claudia Roth, Vice President of the German Bundestag of the Federal Republic of Germany; H.E. Mr. Kim Won-soo, United Nations Under Secretary-General and High Representative for Disarmament Affairs; Hon. Mr. Shin Uda, Chairperson of the Hiroshima Prefectural Assembly; Hon. Mr. Masanori Nagata, Chairperson of the Hiroshima City Council; and Hon. Mr. Masanao Maiguma, Chairperson of the Nagasaki City Council.
