Mr. Hamdard Attends The Japan-Indo-Pacific Dialogue on “Free and Open Indo-Pacific Initiative and Maritime Order”

January 21, 2019: Mr. Basir Ahmad Hamdard, First Secretary for the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Tokyo, had the pleasure of attending The Japan-Indo-Pacific Dialogue on “Free and Open Indo-Pacific Initiative and Maritime Order” hosted by the Pathfinder Foundation, JFIR, GFJ, MIGA, Routledge Studies on Think Asia at Meiji University.


The dialogue, named after the representative of both Pathfinder and Sri Lanka Admiral Professor Jayanath Colombage’s paper, focused on establishing maritime order in the Asia-Pacific and building infrastructure to maintain order. Mr. Hamdard had the opportunity to listen to and exchange ideas concerning topics such as effective ways of maintaining maritime security and maritime governance in the Indian Ocean. Additionally, Mr. Hamdard had the honor of meeting and speaking with several of Their Excellencies Ambassadors, Diplomats with missions in Japan, scholars, and military officials present about many topics of mutual interest. Mr.Hamdard also thanked the organizations that sponsored the dialogue, as well as expressing his hope for continued progress in this initiative in order to bring peace and prosperity to all countries of the region who participate in it.
