May 25, 2011: Dr. Bashir Mohabbat, Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, accompanied Mr. Jafar Ahmadyar, head of the Committee of Afghan Residents of Japan to Support Japanese Disaster Victims, to Ibaraki prefecture to deliver more supplies for evacuees from Fukushima prefecture.
Many evacuees from Fukushima left for Ibaraki unable to take furnishings from their homes. The Committee has provided 20 sets in total of light fixtures and gas stoves for evacuees staying in temporary housing; some space heaters were also provided as well. On May 20th, together with Ambassador Sayed M. Amin Fatimie and other Committee members, 6 sets were delivered to the prefecture. On this day, the remaining 14 sets were taken by Dr. Mohabbat and Mr. Ahmadyar to the Oyama delivery center in Ibaraki. After applying labels describing solidarity between Afghan residents and the Japanese people as well as helping to load the boxes, they were forwarded on to the central office.
