Hours of Operation:
Those in need of a visa or other consular services are kindly requested to make an appointment before visiting the embassy.
Appointments are customarily scheduled on Mondays and Thursdays from 9:30 am to 12:00 pm, the hours of operation of the consular section. In the event of a public holiday, appointments will be scheduled as follows: Tuesday (in place of Monday) and Friday (in place of Thursday).
Once an application is submitted and determined to be complete by a consular services officer, in most cases, a visa will be issued by the next visa operating day.
Fees:
Fees may vary depending on desired length of stay.
Japanese Yen 3,750 for up to 15 days
Japanese Yen 7,500 for up to 30 days
Japanese Yen 15,000 for up to 90 days
The embassy does not accept payment in cash. Payment must be made using the inter-bank remittance system in Japanese Yen before the submission of an application for a visa. Payments should be made to the following account: A completed application form with signature; 2 recent photos (with one attached to application form); A passport with minimum validity of 6 months; A letter of recommendation or guarantee from the company, organization or entity sponsoring the applicant's trip indicating purpose of visit, expected itinerary and willingness to respect the laws in Afghanistan in addition to a certificate of employment or student registration certificate; A note verbal is required for an official or diplomatic visit; A letter of proxy is required for an application by proxy; A copy or your remittance receipt; *Please note all press and media related visitors must register at the Media Relations Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Chahar Rahee Malek-Asghar, Kabul upon arrival in Afghanistan to obtain a letter of accreditation.
