Q 1: What types of visa are there?

There are 4 types of visa issued at the embassy, besides Official or Diplomatic visas.

  • Tourist Visas: For applicants who wish to travel in Afghanistan;
  • Entry Visas: For applicants who are going to Afghanistan for business purposes;
  • Transit Visas: For applicants visiting Afghanistan for transit to other countries;
  • Work Visas: For applicants who are to work in Afghanistan.

Each visa grants the bearer certain number of entry to Afghanistan. See details on the Visa Information page.

  • Single entry: allows one time entry to Afghanistan. If the bearer once leaves Afghanistan, he/she must apply for a new visa in order to re-enter.
  • Double entry: allows the bearer to leave Afghanistan once and re-enter once again.
  • Multiple entry: allows the bearer to re-enter to Afghanistan as many times as possible until the visa is expired.

Q 2: How long is the visa valid for?

Visas are valid for activation within three months from the date of issuance. If you enter Afghanistan within the three-month period, the visa’s period begins on upon arrival. The active visa then lasts for the period specified in the ‘Duration of Stay’ on your visa. In the case of Double and Multiple Entry visas, you may enter the country upon leaving (within the limits of the visa) until the period specified in the ‘Valid until’ area.

Q 3: Can I use internet banking to pay fees?

Yes, please make a printout of your payment completion page to show that payment was made to the embassy bank account - submit the printout with your application forms. The payment must be made for the exact price for the visa that you are applying for. The applicant is also fully responsible for any bank charges and shipping fees.

The embassy has the right to refuse issuance of visas per its discretion.
