October 28, 2011: Dr. Bashir Mohabbat, Deputy Head of Mission; and Ms. Namie Imanishi of the Embassy’s trade section extending a warm welcome to the visiting Senior Coordinator for Japan External Trade Organization’s (JETRO’s) Middle East and Africa Planning Department, Mr. Nobuyuki Nakajima.
Dr. Mohabbat conveyed deepest gratitude to JETRO on behalf of the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, and Ambassador Dr. Sayed M. Amin Fatimie, for the support that JETRO has provided in establishing relations with the Japanese private sector. Dr. Mohabbat described this as an important example of the Government and people of Japan’s generous and friendly support of Afghanistan’s peace and development, as private sector connections are key to progress in both.
The parties discussed together the Embassy’s intention to next year hold a seminar to promote Afghan products in Japan as well as the participation next year of Afghan businesses in JETRO’s Foodex. Mr. Nakajima reiterated JETRO’s intent to support Afghan-Japanese private sector level connections.
