Mr. Hamdard attends opening ceremony for the United Nations Institute for Training and Research’s (UNITAR)’s Diplomatic Training Series

January 24, 2012: Mr. Basir Hamdard, Second Secretary and Consul, Mr. Hamdard attended the opening ceremony for the United Nations Institute for Training and Research’s (UNITAR)’s first Diplomatic Training Series in Tokyo. The theme of the four-day session is “Multilateral Diplomacy: The Fundamentals.”

Mr. Hamdard had the opportunity to meet with the Director of UNITAR’s office in Hiroshima, Mr. Alex Mejia (pictured above). Mr. Hamdard expressed, on behalf of Ambassador Dr. Sayed M. Amin Fatimie and the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Tokyo, deepest gratitude for the organization’s efforts to build capacity in Afghan officials. Mr. Hamdard also had the opportunity to meet with Mr. Yasuo Hashimoto, Chief of International Affairs at the Hiroshima Prefectural Government’s Regional Policy Bureau. Mr. Hamdard also extended appreciation for the prefecture’s role as host of UNITAR’s Japan-based efforts to assist Afghan officials.
