February 22, 2012: Mr. Basir Hamdard, Second Secretary and Consul of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, met with Mr. Bryan Dexter Lao, Second Secretary and Consul of the Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines. This was the first meeting between the two.
During their talks, the two Consuls shared of their respective Embassy operations and activities. Mr. Hamdard also discussed about Afghanistan's rich mineral resources. He stated that it would be a great opportunity if Philippine businesses could invest in this sector in the future.
They agreed on building stronger relations between the two nations. Furthermore, Mr. Hamdard hopes that in the future there can be an Afghan embassy in the Philippines. The Afghan Embassy in Tokyo currently handles affairs with the nation.
