March 22, 2012: Ambassador Dr. Sayed M. Amin Fatimie attended the Friendship Exchange Council’s (FEC’s) International Forum entitled "Toward Japan's Reconstruction from the Great Earthquake, Cooperation from Global Perspective" at the Hotel Okura in Tokyo. One year after the disasters of March 11, 2011 hit, this forum invited political leaders, senior diplomats, and other influential figures for a discussion on how to support the rebuilding of the Tohoku region and provide hope to its residents. Speakers at the event included Hon. Representative and former Prime Minister Naoto Kan, H.E. Nuclear Disaster Minister Goshi Hosono, H.E. Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary Tsuyoshi Saito, President Kan Matsuzawa of the FEC, and Chairman Chihiro Kanagawa of the FEC.
The Ambassador's attendance was part of the initiative of the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, and through and with the Embassy of Afghanistan in Tokyo, to show solidarity with the victims of the terrible tragedies; prayers of support continue to go forth.
