May 23, 2012: Mr. Basir Hamdard, Second Secretary and Consul at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Tokyo, attended the opening ceremony for the Japan Returns Program’s (JRP’s) Japanese language Brush Up course. The course, which runs annually, will this year provide Japanese language training to 17 members of the diplomatic community. Mr. Hamdard will join for the Afghan Embassy; he participated in last year’s program as well.
Opening the ceremony, Ms. Miwa Ikezaki, the President of the JRP, welcomed the participants and supporters. This was followed a number of other speakers, including Ms. Ikuta, one of the instructors, who in explaining the course program referenced last year’s activities, including special attention to Afghan-related content.
Mr. Hamdard took the opportunity to express his gratitude, on behalf of Ambassador Dr. Sayed M. Amin Fatimie, for the latest incarnation of this initiative. President Ikezaki kindly stated her wish to visit the Embassy in the future, both to learn more about Afghanistan and to share her vision for future cooperation.
