Chinese company to rebuild Afghan power station

Kabul, January 27, 2005 - An agreement on reconstruction of the Kajaki power dam in Helmand Province was signed between the USAID and the Chinese international machine-building company in Beijing today.

The Afghan embassy in China says that according to the agreement, the reconstruction of the Kajaki power dam would start shortly and would be completed in two years.

Prof. Dr Rahi Barlas, the ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to China, and the US charge d'affaires to Kabul, David Sydney, attended the signing ceremony. The Afghan ambassador to China expressed thanks to those countries taking part in the reconstitution of Afghanistan.
