Veterinary clinic inaugurated in Kapisa

Kabul, December 13, 2007 (Pajhwok Afghan News): A Veterinary Clinic was inaugurated by the Joint Secretariat of the Disarmament and Reintegration Commission (D&RC) in Kohistan 2, district of Kapisa Province on Thursday.

The Kohaistan 2 project was inaugurated in a simple ceremony attended by government authorities, ANBP and Joint Secretariat officials.

The veterinary clinic will directly benefit 141 villages and over 100,000 people as well as inhabitants from neighboring districts.

This project is a result of the district compliance with Disbandment of Illegal Armed Groups (DIAG) after 21 commanders surrendered more than 31 weapons to DIAG.

Thanks to the ongoing efforts of the governor and the authorities, Commanders have demonstrated compliance with the process, paving the way for Kapisa to be one of the provinces of Afghanistan in conformity with the requirements of DIAG.

A project of canal rehabilitation was also completed in the province; eight canals of 95 Km were cleaned which benefited over 240,000 population of the district.

The establishment of a safe and secure environment in troubled districts will allow communities to become attractive for potential development and governance projects and lead to a renewed prosperity in Kapisa.
