Afghanistan to Chair UNESCO Commission during 35th General Conference

Kabul, (Ministry of Foreign Affairs): Afghanistan has been designated to chair the Program and External Relations (PX) Commission of the 35th General Conference of the United Nations Educational and Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), scheduled to convene from 6-23 October 2009 in Paris.

The chairmanship of the Commission will be conducted by Dr. Zahir Aziz, Ambassador to UNESCO. The decision was taken during the 181st Session of the Organization’s Executive Board.

The selection as Chair of the Program and External Relations Commission is a clear demonstration of its proactive foreign policy initiatives.
