English | 日本語 Afghan Social Foundation teaches how to preserve cultureKabul, June 5, 2007 (Turquoise Mountain Foundation): The Turquoise Mountain Foundation is a non-profit, non-governmental, Afghan Social Foundation, driven by Afghans. We have created a school of traditional Islamic craft and architecture in the old city of Kabul and using the school to preserve and rehabilitate buildings and public spaces in the surrounding areas of the old city. Ultimately the Foundation aims to run short courses for Afghan undergraduates, architects, designers and engineers to encourage the use of traditional arts and designs. The scholar trainees will not only work with historical restoration projects and museum conservation; they will also be encouraged to develop links with construction companies and commercial trading and export houses. |
