Karzai in New York to attend UN GA and hold bilateral and multilateral talksNew York, September 20, 2004 - President Hamid Karzai arrived in the US yesterday to participate in the UN General Assembly in New York. The office of the president reported that in the 59th Assembly of the UN, the most critical issues like the fight against poverty and hunger, the situation in the Middle East and reform in the UN Security Council structure would be undertaken. President Karzai will be among the first to speak to the Assembly. During his visit, the president will meet with the UNSC Kofi Annan, US President George W. Bush, Pakistani President General Musharraf and hold bilateral talks with other world leaders. |
